The Flawed Logic Behind Biden’s Gun Control Push
The president’s push for gun control measures, including bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, fails to address the reality that such laws primarily affect law-abiding citizens, not criminals. Biden conveniently overlooks the fact that the firearm used in the Sandy Hook tragedy was stolen, demonstrating that stricter gun laws would not have prevented this horrific event.
While Biden touts his administration’s efforts to combat gun violence, he conveniently ignores the fact that strict gun control laws have failed to prevent violence in states like California. Despite having some of the nation’s toughest gun laws, California led the country in active shooter incidents in both 2021 and 2023.
“Enough is enough. Our obligation is clear. We must eliminate these weapons that have no purpose other than to kill people in large numbers. It is within our power to do this — for the sake of not only the lives of the innocents lost, but for the survivors who still hope,” Biden said.
But while Biden focuses on pushing his gun control agenda, he conveniently ignores the FBI’s revised crime statistics showing a 4.5% increase in violent crime during his tenure. This rise in violence is a direct result of soft-on-crime policies and the demonization of law enforcement, not the lack of gun control laws.
The President’s failure to address these root causes of violence while simultaneously pushing for restrictions on law-abiding citizens’ rights is not only misguided but dangerous. But what else should we expect from him?
