Global Leaders Support Biden Quitting 2024 Election Race

President Joe Biden of the United States was honored by world leaders following his announcement that he will not be seeking reelection in November. His decision to withdraw from the presidential contest makes him the first sitting president to do so since 1968 when the incumbent Lyndon Johnson announced he would not seek his party’s nomination amidst the backdrop of an escalated Vietnam “police action.”

Senior Democrats have been putting a lot of pressure on 81-year-old Joe Biden to resign after his disastrous debate performance last month cast doubt on his ability to defeat Republican challenger Donald Trump and prompted concerns about his mental acuity.

Traditional US allies in Europe were getting ready for a more aggressive and transactional foreign policy as 78-year-old Trump’s return to the White House was being considered. They expected the focus to shift away from Ukraine and the use of tariffs as a geo-economic weapon against China and Europe.

Despite her relative obscurity in the Asian and European spheres, Vice President Kamala Harris has emerged as the leading contender to succeed her.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his admiration for President Biden’s choice and anticipation of working with him for the rest of his tenure during their meeting this month in Washington.

While pledging to focus all his energies on his duties as President for the remainder of his tenure, Biden also offered his support to Vice President Kamala Harris.

Despite the difficulties of his choice, many of his supporters tried to find praise in his lackluster foreign policies.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wrote on X that Germany and the U.S. have robust transatlantic collaboration, NATO, and the United States is a trusted partner because of Biden. Those things were in place prior to Biden.

Speaking about the president as a “true friend” to Canadians, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada expressed gratitude to him and First Lady Jill Biden of the United States.

According to Poland’s prime minister, Donald Tusk, Mr. Biden has kept the world safer and democracy and freedom more robust as a result of his difficult decisions over his political career. Tusk offered no specifics.

Biden’s foreign policy expertise has always been looked upon as weak at best. Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, where American soldiers were killed and billions of weaponry were left behind for our enemies, will define his foreign policy legacy.
