Hunter Biden is preparing to undergo a psychological evaluation lasting up to seven hours as part of his ongoing defamation lawsuit against former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne. This thorough examination, scheduled for October 11, will help determine whether Biden was emotionally damaged by Byrne’s claims of corruption against him.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles federal court, stems from accusations Byrne made on social media in 2022, alleging that Biden offered to unfreeze $8 billion in Iranian funds in exchange for an $800 million bribe. Byrne, a supporter of Donald Trump and a proponent of election fraud conspiracy theories, has faced multiple controversies, including his resignation from Overstock after revealing a relationship with convicted Russian spy Maria Butina.
Biden’s complaint asserts that Byrne’s bribery claims were not only false but malicious. According to court documents, Biden agreed to the mental evaluation as part of his effort to prove emotional distress damages related to the defamation case. The evaluation will be conducted by Dr. Nathan Lavid in Long Beach, California, who will perform diagnostic tests and administer standardized written tests to assess Biden’s mental state.
Hunter Biden has been involved in several legal battles, including lawsuits against the IRS for allegedly releasing his personal data, and against Rudy Giuliani and Garrett Ziegler for allegedly handling his abandoned laptop. Additionally, Biden is facing sentencing for gun and tax crimes later this year, with the potential for a maximum 17-year prison sentence. Despite his legal troubles, President Joe Biden has publicly stated that he will not pardon or commute his son’s sentences.
Now that Joe Biden is leaving office, too, Biden could actually face real repercussions for his past alleged criminal activity.
Unless, of course, Trump decides to go easy on him as he did Hillary. What do you think he’ll do?
