Lara Trump Responds To Family Takeover Accusations

After Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara was elected co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), some Republican volunteers stated their intention to stop supporting the party. Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s second son, is her husband.

The occasion also saw the election of Michael Whatley as head of the Republican National Committee, another Trump supporter, further establishing the former president’s clout inside the party.

This week, Donald Trump took over the Republican National Committee, which has resulted in several layoffs. The party’s strategic goals have shifted. Former officials worry about the RNC’s dedication to candidates down the ballot, according to those sources.

Due to a significant shakeup, almost every member of the top leadership has been replaced or reassigned. Several lower-level officials, including state directors, have been fired or told to run for their jobs again. To increase voter participation, the party is considering shuttering or redirecting its network of community outreach centers, which was formerly an integral element of its campaign to engage minority voters.

The widely anticipated “Bank Your Vote” effort, which aimed to encourage early voting among Republicans, will now be rebranded as “Grow The Vote” and will place a stronger focus on contacting prospective Trump voters who may not necessarily be loyal to the party.

Whatley succeeded Ronna McDaniel as head of the Republican National Committee. When McDaniel became head in 2017, she garnered backing from Trump. However, after the 2018 and 2020 elections, she took heat from some Republicans disappointed with the party’s performance. The party’s 2022 performance was not close to the ‘red wave’ predictions.

Lara Trump said that her father-in-law’s legal bills might have been paid using RNC monies before she was elected, saying these funds are vital to certain people. The Republicans spent over $1 million on legal expenses associated with Trump in 2021, according to The New York Times.

It would seem that Trump is currently the head of the RNC.
