A California man tragically lost his life after being hit by not one, but two vehicles which resulted in one of the drivers being arrested for a DUI charge. The incident happened this past weekend in Porterville, California, which is northeast of Los Angeles. It was reported that the victim was a pedestrian who had been struck by the two vehicles.
Porterville police reported that they were dispatched to an area near major Highway 65 and Pioneer Avenue regarding a traffic injury involving a pedestrian this past Sunday around 8:56 p.m. Local responders such as police officers and emergency services arrived on the scene quickly, however, the victim had already succumbed due to their major injuries. The area of the roadway in which the incident had occurred had swiftly been shut down and the Major Incident Investigation Team, or MAIT, was called out to investigate the matter. Porterville police reported that the investigation team had previously been investigating a separate fatal auto accident about an hour before.
The MAIT had determined that the pedestrian victim had been riding a bicycle in the northbound lanes of Highway 65 by the center median, where he was struck by the two vehicles. The investigative team was able to find the suspects involved and confirmed that both drivers did not sustain any injuries from the accident.
Porterville police reported that one of the drivers was confirmed to have been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the tragic incident, in which the suspect was subsequently arrested. Information regarding the legal fate of both drivers involved has not yet been released. Personal information regarding the victim of the accident has also not yet been released to the public.
