Trump Taps Ratcliffe for CIA Leadership

In a move that’s sending ripples through Washington’s national security circles, President-elect Donald Trump has appointed John Ratcliffe as the new Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Yeah, the three-letter agencies should be worried.

The decision marks a significant shift in the leadership of one of America’s most crucial intelligence organizations, bringing a staunch Trump ally to its helm.

Ratcliffe, who previously served as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) during Trump’s first term, is no stranger to the intelligence community. His appointment to the CIA’s top position reflects Trump’s strategy of populating key national security roles with experienced individuals from his previous administration, aiming to ensure stability and continuity within U.S. intelligence agencies.

“I look forward to John being the first person ever to serve in both of our Nation’s highest Intelligence positions. He will be a fearless fighter for the Constitutional Rights of all Americans, while ensuring the Highest Levels of National Security, and PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH,” Trump said in a statement.

Ratcliffe’s Background and Controversies

Before his stint as DNI, Ratcliffe was elected to Congress in 2014, representing Texas’ 4th District until 2020. He gained prominence as a vocal defender of Trump during impeachment proceedings, famously declaring, “This is the thinnest, fastest and weakest impeachment our country has ever seen.”

So, he’s a Trump loyalist.

However, Ratcliffe’s path to intelligence leadership hasn’t been without controversy. His initial nomination for DNI faced skepticism over his qualifications, leading to a temporary withdrawal from consideration. But that was clearly partisan, and we should probably expect the same games again this time around.

Ratcliffe is also known for his hardline stance against China, viewing it as a top threat to U.S. interests. He has consistently expressed concerns about China’s economic, military, and technological ambitions. This position aligns with Trump’s tough-on-China rhetoric and could signal a continued focus on countering Chinese influence in global affairs.

During his tenure as DNI, Ratcliffe was also responsible for countering foreign interference in American politics. He notably held a news conference before the 2020 election, accusing Iran of voter intimidation efforts.

He’s a qualified candidate – and there’s no wonder Democrats are losing it. He threatens their control.
