Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s neighbors have said they can’t wait for the couple to move on. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to the California town of Montecito when they sensationally stepped away from the Royal family in 2020. A neighbor has spoken to reporters from the Montecito Journal, saying the couple keeps to themselves and has made no effort to get involved in the local community. “The community is waiting for them,” one person stated.
However, other Montecito residents took a different view and described the couple as a “traveling soap opera.” US military veteran Frank McGinity, who lives nearby, described approaching the couple’s home with a welcome gift when they arrived, but was turned away by a security official who told him the Royal couple were “not interested.”
Some residents expressed surprise that Harry and Meghan chose the area, given that most of its occupants are retirees. “It’s where elephants come to die,” a neighbor joked.
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess have stated that they will not be weighing into the US Presidential election or endorsing either candidate. Nevertheless, observers will likely guess the couple’s choice, given their past clashes with Donald Trump. They did, however, issue a statement urging people to vote, describing it as a “fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities.”
Former President Trump has previously threatened to deport Prince Harry because of his admission to drug use earlier in life. The conservative Heritage Foundation initially challenged the Prince’s status and filed a lawsuit demanding that the Department of Homeland Security publish his immigration records. During an interview with British Brexit leader Nigel Farage earlier this year, Donald Trump said if the records show that Harry lied on his visa application, he would take the appropriate action.
The Prince admitted to using illegal drugs, including cocaine and cannabis, in his sensational autobiography, Spare. When people apply to live in the United States, they are asked about past narcotics use, and the Heritage Foundation wants to see Harry’s application and determine whether he told the truth.
