Is New York’s Democratic leadership actively working against national security? Trump Border Czar Tom Homan thinks so, as he blasts New York’s “pro-illegal immigration” policies during his recent visit to Albany.
At a glance:
• Former ICE Director Tom Homan visited New York to support Republican efforts to overturn sanctuary state laws
• Homan is advocating for “Laken’s Law” to restore communication between local law enforcement and federal immigration agencies
• He criticized Governor Kathy Hochul while praising NYC Mayor Eric Adams for efforts to reduce crime
• U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has sued New York for allegedly violating constitutional requirements on immigration enforcement
• New York’s Green Light Law allows undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses and limits federal access to DMV records
Homan Takes Fight to Albany
Former ICE Director Tom Homan, who now serves as President Trump’s Border Czar, brought his tough border security message directly to New York’s capital this week, confronting dangerous sanctuary policies that protect illegal immigrants at the expense of citizen safety. During his visit, Homan rallied with Senate Republicans to push for the rollback of state laws that prevent cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities.
Homan was very blunt in how he addressed those who oppose his mission to enforce immigration laws and remove dangerous criminals from American communities. As he usually is.
“I work for a President who wants to save lives and make this country safe again. You want to hate on me? Hate on me, because I eat it up,” Homan said during his Albany appearance.
And when he was done, he was seen casually strolling through the New York State Capitol eating an apple while maniacs screamed at him.
Hochul Snub, Adams Alliance
The stark political divide on immigration enforcement was on full display as Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul refused to meet with Homan during his visit to the state capital. This cold shoulder from the Governor contrasts sharply with Homan’s productive relationship with New York City Mayor Eric Adams, whom he praised for showing genuine concern about public safety.
“I sat down with the guy; I saw a career cop in him really concerned about making New York City safer. And let me be fair in this: not every criminal in New York City is an alien; not every alien’s a criminal, (a) public safety threat, but there’s some that are. So, I think he shares a feeling with me — if we make New York safer by removing public safety threats … that’s less he has to deal with and makes the community safer,” Homan explained about his meeting with Adams.
Homan didn’t hold back when discussing Governor Hochul’s apparent interference with the mayor’s efforts to work with federal authorities.
“She hasn’t communicated with me (either). Let’s be clear: I’m doing nothing wrong, she is,” Homan stated, adding, “She goes and tries to fire the Mayor, who wants to help me find public safety threats.”
Federal Action Against New York Sanctuary Policies
The Trump administration is taking concrete steps to challenge New York’s resistance to federal immigration enforcement, with Attorney General Pam Bondi filing a lawsuit against the state. The legal action targets New York’s Green Light Law, which not only allows undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses but also includes a “tip-off” provision that alerts immigrants when federal agencies request their information.
Bondi didn’t hold back when announcing the charges against New York in February, declaring, “New York has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over American citizens. It stops. It stops today. We’re here today because we have filed charges against this. Violent criminals, gang members, drug traffickers, human smugglers will no longer terrorize the American people.”
Republican lawmakers in New York are pushing for the adoption of “Laken’s Law,” named after murder victim Laken Riley, which would mandate state law enforcement collaboration with federal immigration officials. The proposed legislation aims to alert immigration agents when unauthorized immigrants are arrested, potentially preventing crimes by individuals who should not be in the country.
New York is full of conservatives, but its Democratic leadership never stops to think about them – or the other Americans being actively harmed by the Democrats’ obsession with open borders.
