Donald Trump has expressed regret that he did not “go after” the moderators at his debate against Kamala Harris. The former President has accused anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis of bias and of “fact-checking” him while giving the Vice President a free pass. Speaking to Fox host Greg Gutfeld, Trump said he wanted to be “elegant,” so he kept his feelings about the moderators to himself, but now he regrets it because “I was treated very unfairly.”
The mainstream media has praised the Vice President for her Philadelphia performance, with most declaring her the winner. Mr. Trump dismissed this as “fake news” and said Harris had delivered a “word salad.” Trump and Gutfeld mocked Vice President Harris, saying she doesn’t like to do media interviews because she is frightened to speak off script and lacks knowledge of some issues, including the economy.
The former President once again repeated his view that Harris forced Joe Biden out of the race, and had used the 25th Amendment to replace him on the ballot. The 25th Amendment to the Constitution governs the transfer of powers from the President to the Vice President.
Mr. Trump also addressed an incident in Florida where a man pointed a gun at him on his golf course in West Palm Beach. Secret Service agents fired at 58-year-old Ryan Routh when his rifle appeared through bushes next to where the former President was playing. Routh made his escape, but police picked him up within the hour. A woman spotted the alleged would-be assassin fleeing the scene and took photos of his car and license plate, saying she instinctively knew he was up to no good. Former President Trump described the woman as a “heroine.”
The Gutfeld interview with Trump has drawn significant media coverage and criticism. For instance, Mr. Trump said the audience at the Philadelphia debate “went crazy” over the moderators’ bias, but the debate had no audience. This attracted social media mockery, including from the Vice President’s campaign team, who likewise commented on Trump’s apparent surprise that “a woman” was “somehow” doing better than Joe Biden.
