Trump Threatens to Imprison Zuckerberg for Life if FB Influences Election

In his latest dramatic promise should he win his re-election campaign, former president Donald Trump has threatened to imprison Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for life if Facebook unlawfully impact the upcoming election.

The vow from Trump was made in a coffee table book that will be published under his name next week. “Save America” is set to be released by Winning Team Publishing—co-founded by the GOP nominee’s son, Donald Trump Jr.—on September 3. Its pre-order price is listed as $99.

The book will include both stories from his first term in office and other commentary about national and international issues. And it also warns that Zuckerberg will “spend the rest of his life in prison” should his social media platform illegally influence the November 5 presidential election.

Trump noted that he will be “watching him closely” in the next two months as well as recalled his interactions with the internet entrepreneur while he was in the White House.

In the book, the former president shared how Zuckerberg would “be as nice” as possible when visiting for dinners with his wife but asserted that the businessman was secretly “plot[ting] against the president.” Trump said that he was informed by the CEO that “nobody” else on Facebook was “like Trump” but also “steered it against” the president, “for whatever reason.”

This election cycle, however, Trump vowed that he would crack down on Zuckerberg if he “does anything illegal.” He added that, in addition to the CEO’s potential life imprisonment, he will also punish “others who cheat” in the election.

Ironically—or perhaps intentionally—Trump appears to be threatening the very CEO whose social media companies, Facebook and Instagram, suspended him after claiming that he was robbed of victory during the 2020 election.

The comments from the book coincided with the news that Zuckerberg sent a letter to the House Judiciary Committee, detailing how the Biden administration put pressure on Facebook to censor content related to COVID-19 back in 2021. The CEO said that government officials—including those in the White House—routinely requested certain content be removed, such as satire and humor.

Zuckerberg shared the information as it relates to the congressional committee’s probe into online content moderation.
