Christina Applegate’s Daughter Opens Up About Mom’s MS Struggles

Sadie, Christina Applegate’s daughter, recently shared her feelings about witnessing her mother’s challenging journey with multiple sclerosis.

During her appearance on her mom’s MeSsy podcast, alongside her friend Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who also lives with MS, Applegate, 52, expressed her joy in having her daughter as a guest. She described her teenager as the source of her motivation each day.

The 13-year-old, who Christina shares with her husband Martyn Le Noble, mentioned that it was her own decision to join the MeSsy podcast and talk about her personal experience as a child of someone dealing with MS.

Sadie shared with the listeners what it was like when her mom received the diagnosis; it was a challenging experience. She described how it felt like her mom was losing many of the abilities she had during Sadie’s childhood.

She went on to say when she was younger, they used to dance in her room for hours on end. That has changed.

Sadie mentioned that their family has been going through a challenging period, but they also noted that it has been rewarding to provide assistance and be there for their loved ones. However, Sadie jokingly mentioned that her mom sometimes hesitates to accept her help.

The daughter said that her mom warns her not to push her into a wall when she is helping out with the wheelchair.

Applegate jokingly mentioned to Sadie that she sometimes worries that if there were a ramp, Sadie would just let go for the sake of being funny.

In spite of her occasional concerns, the Hollywood native mentioned that her daughter was quite skilled at pushing the wheelchair.

Sadie remembered how Applegate had her try wearing socks or balloons filled with sand to help her grasp the challenges of walking with pain.

She also mentioned her personal health concerns, such as misophonia, which is described as a strong aversion to certain sounds.

This condition can lead to individuals experiencing intense emotions, physical changes, or reactive behaviors that can impact their ability to function, socialize, and maintain good mental health.

In addition, she has recently been diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).

POTS is a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system and can lead to a rapid heart rate and feelings of lightheadedness.

Wrapping up the podcast, Applegate mentioned that she has a firm rule in place for her teenager, stating that she must wait until she turns 18 before pursuing acting if she decides to do so.
